Surf Reports are generated by collecting data from offshore weather using Buoys. Many Buoys measure the wave height, swell period, swell direction, and the overall speed and direction of Surf generating weather event. After this data is collected it is analyzed by your surf scientists, regular surfers, and often jimmy from down the block. All of us can tell when the swell is coming our way when we reference our local Buoy. That said, many don’t know how to access their Buoy, or compare it to other Surf spots that may be receiving better conditions. For Florida and California, all of your Buoys are list at the links below. I will be adding additional states soon!

While you’re studying your Buoy, keep the following elements in mind: Swell Size, Swell Period, Swell Direction, Wind Direction and Strength, Tide, and local weather models.
